Anji, a county in northern Zhejiang, is the single largest concentration of chair manufacturing in China. The county turns out well over 30 million chairs a year across more than 2,000 furniture enterprises, covering office chairs, mesh chairs, gaming chairs, bar stools and leisure seating. Industry estimates attribute roughly a third of China's office chair output — and a significant share of the global supply of swivel and mesh seating — to Anji and its immediate surroundings.
The supply chain is vertically complete within a 30 km radius: nylon and PP bases, Class 3 and Class 4 gas lifts, castors, plywood and molded seat shells, mesh weaving plants, foam pouring, powder-coating lines and hardware workshops all operate locally. This allows a chair to move from raw resin to packed carton without leaving the county, keeping tooling costs low and enabling rapid customization of arms, bases, mesh colors and mechanisms.
For overseas buyers, Anji offers a rare combination of BIFMA-grade engineering at mid-market prices, with many factories already exporting to EU and US chains and holding their own test reports. The pain points are uneven quality between workshops and MOQs that fluctuate with season — which is where vetted supplier selection and pre-shipment inspection make the difference.
Trial orders typically 100–300 pcs per model; confirmed orders 300–500 pcs per color. Standard lead time 25–35 days after deposit, 40–50 days for full ODM with new tooling. We recommend pre-production samples with gas-lift class and mesh gsm confirmed in writing, plus AQL 2.5 inspection and drop tests before container loading.
