Pinghu, on the north shore of Hangzhou Bay 90 km from Shanghai, is home to two major export industries. As 'China's Luggage Capital' it hosts several hundred luggage manufacturers producing an estimated half of China's mid- to high-end luggage and around a quarter of national output value, with export lines running for brands and retailers across Europe, North America, Japan and Southeast Asia. Alongside it, Pinghu is one of Zhejiang's largest garment bases, with down-padded outerwear as its signature category — the city produces tens of millions of down garments annually for domestic and international brands.

The two clusters share a mature supply chain: aluminum trolley systems, ABS/PC shell sheet extrusion, zippers, webbing and linings are made locally, while down garment factories draw on 90/10 white duck and goose down suppliers in the greater Yangtze Delta, with fill-power and RDS (Responsible Down Standard) documentation increasingly standard.
