Sourcing Cluster Guide · Industrial
Northern China's PPE wholesale engine — gloves, safety footwear and site protection by the container.
Linyi is one of China's largest wholesale and production bases for personal protective equipment. The city's wholesale market district is among the biggest general-merchandise markets in the country, and the surrounding counties host hundreds of glove knitting, dipping and sewing factories together with safety-footwear, helmet and hi-vis producers. For work gloves specifically, Linyi's strength is coated knitted gloves — PU, nitrile and latex-dipped styles — where the cluster can supply from 12-pair retail packs to full 40HQ programmes.
The production chain is concentrated: yarn covering (polyester, nylon, HPPE/glass hybrid, aramid), glove knitting on 13G/15G/18G machines, dipping lines for PU, nitrile foam, sandy nitrile, crinkle latex and PVC, plus TPR impact printing and screen printing of logos. Because coating lines run continuously, colour changes and second-dip options are economical at volumes far below what a European converter would accept, and test houses in Qingdao and Shanghai handle EN 388 and ANSI/ISEA 105 certification for the cluster.
For buyers, the key discipline is not finding a supplier — it is matching the claimed protection level to the test report. A 4131X marking is only valid if the abrasion (4), cut (1), tear (3) and puncture (1) results appear on the notified-body certificate for that exact construction. We verify gauge, liner composition, dip weight in grams per pair and coupe-test cut results before quoting, because downgraded liners are the single most common substitution in this category.
Trial orders usually start at 6,000–12,000 pairs per style (500–1,000 dozen), or 1,200 pairs for stock colours. Lead time is 15–25 days for stock coated gloves and 30–40 days for custom knitting, TPR moulds or retail packaging. QC should check gauge and liner composition, dip weight per pair, palm thickness, cuff elasticity, and — critically — that the EN 388 performance levels on the label match the current certificate for the same liner and coating combination.
