China's low-voltage electrical capital — thousands of factories making everything that sits behind a distribution board.
Yueqing, a county-level city under Wenzhou, is the largest low-voltage electrical apparatus cluster in China and one of the largest in the world. Production is centred on Liushi town, with a secondary belt in Beibaixiang and Hongqiao. Several thousand manufacturers — from component workshops to listed groups — produce circuit breakers, contactors, relays, switches, meters and complete distribution assemblies. Industry bodies put Yueqing's share of China's low-voltage electrical output at roughly half, and the city is the base for several brands that have become standard references in Middle East, African and Southeast Asian panel building.
The cluster's real strength is component-level depth. Moulds, silver contacts, bimetals, coils, plastic housings, arc chutes and calibration equipment are all made locally, which is why a new breaker model can be tooled, sampled and type-tested within weeks rather than months. It also explains the price spread: at one end, fully automated lines produce MCBs to IEC 60898 with CB-scheme certificates; at the other, small workshops assemble unlisted product at a fraction of the cost. Both exist side by side, and telling them apart is the buyer's central task.
For a distributor or panel builder, Yueqing offers an unbeatable menu — one city can kit out an entire panel: breakers, contactors, relays, terminal blocks, meters, enclosures and surge protection. The critical discipline is certification verification: ask for the original CB certificate and test report number, check the certificate holder against the factory, and insist on sample rupture-capacity and temperature-rise testing. This is a category where a marginal saving on unit price can cost a project its approval.
Trial order 100–500 pcs per model for breakers and contactors, 20–50 pcs for large frames. Lead time 20–30 days for standard models, 35–45 days for private label. Mandatory checks: original CB certificate and its online verification, temperature-rise test at rated current, mechanical/electrical endurance sampling, and a 100% calibration report for any meter or relay.
